    Also called cranial ultrasound (CUS), it is a safe and painless test that uses sound waves to create images brain and cerebrospinal fluid. The sound waves deliver images of the brain's internal structure, including the ventricles and blood vessels. The test is done on babies younger than six months old. The doctor may advise this test to screen for brain conditions such as bleeding or brain tissue damage associated with premature birth.
