It is a noninvasive prenatal diagnostic test that combines a nonstress test (NST) with ultrasound to evaluate the health of the fetus. The NST finds out the fetal’s heart rate and your contractions. Ultrasound imaging assesses fetal breathing movements, fetal movements, fetal muscle tone and amniotic fluid volume. During the biophysical examination, each of the five main areas is given a score of either 0 (abnormal) or 2 (normal). A score of 8 or 10 is considered normal.
