PSMA PET CT Scan

  • Also Known As

If prostate cancer recurs after initial treatment, such as surgery and radiotherapy, it is often hard to detect. The Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen based PSMA PET/CT imaging scan is a globally renowned scan which measures PSMA tracer uptake with Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Scanner. The scan uses a small amount of a radioactive compound or tracer as it moves through your body. The tracers bind to PSMA – a protein that’s found in high levels on the surface of prostate cancer cells, and lights up on the scan. By combining the images of PET and CT scans, your doctor can pinpoint the exact location of the cancer.
