It is an imaging technique that uses a strong magnetic field, radio waves and a computer to create detailed images of various sections of the knee, such as bones, cartilage, tendons, muscles, blood vessels, and ligaments. The scan allows the doctor to look at soft tissues within the knee joint and surrounding areas. It is recommended to help diagnose arthritis, bone fractures, damaged cartilage, decreased motion in the knee joint, infection, tumours and fluid buildup in the knee.
