Iodine 131 Whole Body Scan (I-131)

An iodine-131 (I-131) whole body scan (TBS) is performed to investigate the presence of metastatic disease of thyroid cancer. For this test, a small dose of radioactive iodine (Iodine-131) is used. The images are acquired using a gamma camera that shows how the radioactive iodine is distributed throughout your body.
