    It is an imaging technique that uses a rotating beam of X-rays to create cross-sectional images of the cervical spine. Your doctor may advise this test to find out problems such as tumors, fractures, structural anomalies such as spina bifida, birth defects and degenerative disk disease. Your doctor may advise this test to check for injuries after an accident. The scan may also be used as a guiding method while doing a biopsy (tissue removal) or removing fluid from an infected area in the cervical spine.
