A contrast agent is used to better visualize specific organs, blood vessels or tissues. The scan help diagnose diseases of the upper abdominal region such as infections like appendicitis and inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn’s disease. It is also helpful in diagnosing liver, kidney, bladder, pancreatic, or ovarian cancers.
