    Calcitonin is a type of tumor marker test that measures the level of calcitonin in the blood. It is most commonly used to diagnose medullary thyroid cancer, monitor the treatment for cancer, and re-occurrence of the same after the treatment. It also helps to check symptoms such as trouble swallowing, lump in front of the neck, pain in the throat, change in the voice, and more.
